Are You Smiling About Your Fresh Breath?
We certainly hope so, and especially during this month for love, but ideally, you will enjoy good breath and a kissable mouth all year round. Bad breath or halitosis is frequently caused by bacterial build up in the mouth and can occur if you haven’t been quite as vigilant as you should about your oral care routine.
It is essential to brush your teeth at least twice daily and to floss once-a-day, a simple routine that will only take a few minutes at most. It’s best to brush your teeth first thing in the morning to remove plaque bacteria that build up in the drier conditions overnight. Cleaning your teeth just before you go to bed removes food particles that would otherwise allow plaque bacteria to thrive.
During the day, you can keep your breath beautifully fresh by making sure you drink plenty of water as this will wash away excess bacteria and food particles and ensures you can produce an adequate amount of saliva to maintain a more neutral pH. If you fancy a snack between meals, choose crunchy fruits and veggies that contain lots of fibre and which have a slight scrubbing action on teeth. Finally, kiss more as it stimulates saliva, helping to reduce your risk of cavities!
